Mental Health Support for Teenagers and Young Adults

Life can be a challenge for young adults and teenagers as they find their feet in the world.  They may need support to help them overcome and learn how to cope with those challenges to lead happier and healthier lives, allowing them to reach their full potential.

I help teenagers with the following:

  • Anxiety: general anxiety disorders, social anxiety, exam anxiety, health anxiety and travel anxiety

  • Confidence building and self esteem

  • Depression

  • Sleep problems

  • Fears and Phobias

How does it work?

​

My approach is based on neuroscience and scientific knowledge of how the brain works. I firstly help young people to understand what is going on in the brain and the body when they are faced with stress. This knowledge of the brain and how it works allows young people to start taking control of their actions and behaviours as they learn techniques to manage and reduce the effects of stress.

 

We clarify how they want their lives to be and work to develop hopes and goals for the future.  We use solution focused conversation and hypnosis to help change habits, thought patterns and behaviours to help them achieve the things they want to do.

 

These sessions focus on positive solutions and helping young people take small steps towards their goals in a way that works for them.

I generally see individuals for 6-8 sessions but this can vary depending on the individual. The number of sessions can be tailored for organisations looking for a standard programme.

I work with individuals and educational organisations providing mental health support to young people and teenagers in colleges and schools.

Who is it for?

Young people facing challenges or difficulties want life to change and be better. Solution focused hypnotherapy is focused on helping them make those changes by helping them to look forward to the future with hope and to build optimism. It is a non-judgemental process where we work towards their goals one small step at a time.

Solution focused hypnotherapy and sleep hypnotherapy for young people and adults is for young people aged 16-24. They may be experiencing:

  • Sleep problems

  • Low mood

  • Panic Attacks

  • Fears or phobias

  • Difficulty in motivation

  • Difficulties with food

My name is Alexandra Gibson

I am a clinical hypnotherapist passionate about helping young adults and teenagers through those challenging years to help them realise their potential. I have worked with many young people with issues ranging from anxiety and sleep problems to issues with food. Contact me for a free no obligation chat. 

 

I hold the gold standard for hypnotherapy qualifications: the HPD and the DSFH. I am also trained in sleep therapy and gut directed hypnotherapy for IBS.  I have an enhanced DBS check in place.
